FIRE DEVIL x KIMONA
On December 29, 2004, our beloved
Kimfire passed away. Less than 5 months after giving birth
to her last colt, the heaves which had bothered her before
she got in foal, became progressively worse. Rather than prolonging
her suffering, and after exhausting all veterinary treatment,
the heartbreaking decision was made to put her down.
"Kim" was truly a
magnificent mare. Bred by Bevans Arabians, she raised 9 foals,
and retired from breeding after giving us our beloved Bonfire
in summer of 2004.
In her younger days, Kim had
a show career, competing mostly
in English Pleasure.
Kim was a joy to be around.
She taught us what an Arabian mare should be. She embodied
grace, strength, and loyalty, until her last breath. She will
never be forgotten, and we hope the offspring she left us
with will continue to embody and pass on the qualities of
this grand old mare. We love you Kim!
"Somewhere...somewhere
in time's own space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
Some Paradise where horses go.
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again."
